Important Air Quality Update for Thursday, June 8
|
|
Dear MFS Students and Families, An Air Quality Alert remains in effect for southwestern New Jersey through Friday as a result of the continued effects of the smoke from Canadian wildfires on our region. We will wait until the morning to make decisions about off-campus Middle and Upper School field trips so we can best assess air quality data and the most up-to-date advisories. In the event that outdoor field trips for 8th - 12th grade students cannot take place as planned, school for these grades may be canceled. We will make a decision by 6:30 a.m. so please look for text and email messages from our MFS alert system in the morning. Middle School activities for Grades 5-7 have largely indoor itineraries and will be able to run in slightly adjusted formats if need be. Students in these grade-levels should report to school tomorrow for these end-of-year celebrations. Lower School will proceed with classes as normal and the Final Lower School Meeting for Worship to honor our fourth grade students will be moved inside to the Baiada Field House Gym. We will make every effort to preserve the end-of-year experiences that students have been looking forward to while balancing recommendations from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. You are always welcome to make a choice that you think is best for your family's health. Please notify your child's divisional office if your child is not coming to school. Thank you, as always, for your support and partnership as we navigate this unusual and unfortunate weather situation during this celebratory time of year. We will be in touch in the morning with a final determination on trips for our Middle and Upper School students. Sincerely, Julia de la Torre Head of School | |
